8BitKid: Living Bit by Bit

This Saturday is the next match of the “The Derby Dolls”, LA’s banked-track women’s roller derby league.  I first to witnessed the frenetic spectacle when I went with friends to celebrate my Birthday this past March, and have been a regular ever since.  Beyond the sport being a blast to watch,the crowd is always great, the peripheral entertainment is amusing, and the general ambience is really unique and fun.

So I recommend heading to Filipino Town in downtown LA this weekend to check it out.  Tickets are still available, so definitely pick one up ASAP since they always sell out.

To celebrate my birthday, my friends and I went to witness the mayhem that is the LA Derby Dolls, LA’s all-women roller derby league. It was an incredibly raucous and fun time, and it now rivals hockey as the live sport I enjoy seeing the most.

Next Saturday, the Derby Dolls match pits the “Fight Crew” against “The Tough Cookies”. I will definitely be there, and if you are interested, be sure to pick up your tickets as soons as possible. These matches always sell out, and a bunch of people got burned last time by not snagging tickets in advance, so don’t dawdle. I hope to see you there!
