    Shrine-of-apple
Shrine of Apple is a new visual museum of all of the products from throughout Apple's history. It features gorgeous images and videos and aims to house a complete collection of every Apple product ever made. While the site's contents are a bit sparse now, it is growing and has more than enough content for the avid Apple fan. It is amazing to see which industrial designs still hold up and which are best kept locked away.

I noticed that Google Analytics had a new favicon when I logged in today. I'm not sure how long it has been this way. How do folks feel about the change?

Check out this exploration by the design consultancy IDEO. I love how their vision of the evolution of the written word incorporates social, collaborative, and gaming elements to strengthen the medium.

This video features Conny Kalcher, the VP of Consumer Experience at Lego, discussing the company's philosophy on working with the community. It is refreshing to hear an executive extolling the benefits of working with fans and embracing a philosophy of openness. I think this outlook is what help keeps Lego fresh and sets them apart from other toy companies.

While I try not to venture off-theme when blogging, sometimes there is something so amazing that I just want to share it. This is one of those times. Paul Adams, a user experience researcher at Google, gave the presentation embedded below. It provides an illuminating look into how we tend to naturally organize our groups of friends into buckets and offers insight into the levels of friendship we tend to have.

This should be required reading for anyone who works on the internet, since he outlines the influencing factors that should guide any web product being built. However, much of this will be fascinating to anyone interested in sociology and wants to learn more about how we structure our social lives, online or off.

Panasonic is using a gorgeous and simple design for the packaging of these headphones.  I found this on Lovely Package, which you should definitely check if you are into these sorts of things.

As a fan of ramen, I've been struggling with how to best keep the top down to keep the heat in since middle school. The "Cupmen 2"  is an ingenious product that not only keeps the lid sealed, but it also tells you the temperature via some snazzy color-changing. As a bonus, it looks pretty awesome. You can read more about it here.

A great video from College Humor.  The old newspaper editor in me loves this.  I know it isn't Friday, but I was up all night with the workies, and this is the best my brain can handle.

It is probably abundantly clear through the URL of this site that I am a fan of the 8-bit era. My fondest gaming memories all stem from the hours spent sitting on the floor immersed in the pixelated worlds of Mega Man and Super Mario Brothers.

I've been on a bit of a binge recently procuring various mildly geeky artwork to cover my walls. My most recent acquisition is the above piece by "eboy", a German pixel-art collective that creates these amazing and massive cityscapes that contain a dizzying amount of detail.  My poster is of Tokyo, and will be arriving on these fair shores in about a month, if the shipping goes as planned.  Definitely peruse the site and check out not only the posters, but also the cool vinyl toys, t-shirts and all the rest.

So, I wanted to take a moment to share this very cool, and very creepy website with you.  It takes a bunch of different facial parts from different people and randomly selects the various pieces to create one crazy composite.  Enjoy!
