While crossover games that commingle characters from outside their corporate walls have never been foreign territory for Capcom, they recently made an announcement that has me giddy. Capcom and Level-5 announced that they are collaborating to create a new Nintendo 3DS game featuring two of my favorite characters: Professor Layton and Phoenix Wright. I'm a big fan of both of these series, so I can't wait for this title to launch. While the trailer is in Japanese, you can enjoy the amazing visuals and the joy of seeing these two characters on screen together.

With the flurry of recent announcements surrounding the Nintendo 3DS came the bombshell that Capcom will be making a third installment in the Mega Man Legends series. I remember buying this game for the PlayStation thinking it was going to be like the classic NES titles only to begin playing and finding something very different. Luckily, the RPG/platformer took the series in an interesting and fun new direction. I'm excited to see Capcom give series creator Keiji Inafune the chance to continue work on the Legends storyline, and you can watch him discuss the news in the video below.

Capcom did a very cool thing with their first return to the 8-bit glory of Mega Man when they enlisted the artist Gerald de Jesus to create new "box art" for the download that evoked the vibe of the original Mega Man box art from the 80's. Fans loved the treatments, and so Capcom commissioned more work for the relatively-newly-released Mega Man 10. Here are the new graphics, which include many favorite characters from the series.  You can read more about it on the Capcom blog here.

Capcom continues to dish out excellent news. They will be releasing a sequel to the critically acclaimed and thoroughly original Okami for the Nintendo DS. The handheld is perfectly suited for the drawing-based game mechanics featured in the original. While the now-defunct Clover Studio won't be able to develop this installment in the series, the below trailer does depict adorable and intriguing gameplay. I'm excited to have Okami on the go, and hope that Capcom delivers a game that matches the fun featured in this promising footage.

How can you not be excited about seeing the Hulk battle Zangief or Mega Man take on Iron Man?  The game is due to drop in the spring of 2011 for the PS3 and Xbox 360.  I'm sure Capcom will keep us salivating until then with a steady stream of tantalizing trailers. Here's the first one to whet your appetite.
