The Spectacle of Anime Expo ‘08

This past weekend I made my first trip to an anime con. I have attended two comic book conventions, but they certainly didn’t fully prepare me for the level of fandom that was on hand at Anime Expo ‘08, held in the LA Convention Center.

I headed down there with some friends to check out the scene and indulge my love of anime, but it is a rare occasion when I can be surrounded by people and not feel like the geekiest one in the room. On Saturday, as I made my way through the insanity of the show floor, my “Cowboy Bebop” t-shirt was nothing compared to the droves of cosplayers out roving in packs. It was a blast to see such great exhibitionism and creativity, and you can check out some of the photos below. I left with a good vibe, a lighter wallet, and a big smile on my face.
